60th Anniversary Reunion

Friday, September 9, 2005

Friday afternoon found many of us checking into “Ye Olde Super 8 Motel”. Much hugging in the lobby and parking lot. Can you believe that in our hall were classmates from Minnesota, Colorado, Florida, California and Illinois? Some people will travel long distances for a party! That’s not fair, we love each other.

John and Carolyn Kamerick graciously entertained us for cocktails and a delicious buffet on Friday evening. Some of us ate far too much, everything was so very good. Here, we were joined by other classmates. Even our President, Jim Schall, was present and also the treasurer, Bob Mark, who was not collecting money. Shouldn’t he be assigned that job?

Saturday, September 10, 2005

The morning found people scattered: some visiting old friends and relatives, some eating breakfast, some at the farmer’s market and some just loafing. In the afternoon 12 of us took an historical boat tour at Lake Red Rock. We learned so much about the area and remembered the flooded town. Those who sat in the back of the boat occasionally got wet. I didn’t realize a pontoon boat could race so fast!

Saturday evening for dinner, we met at the Pella Country Club. This is a lovely facility, obviously enjoyed by many. The food was excellent. Next time we will bring purple balloons.

Sunday, September 11, 2005

Sunday morning we gathered at MR. C’s restaurant for breakfast. It takes a while to prepare for so many, but we enjoyed the time for more visiting. And then our “good-byes”.

Fourteen classmates and eight spouses attended most events together with our two honorary members. Three more classmates and one spouse had Sunday breakfast with us and there were two guests on Friday evening. We missed those who couldn’t be with us. All of us are indebted to the following people who helped to make this reunion possible:

Program planning: Barb Halweg and John and Carolyn Kamerick
Program printing: Barb Halweg
Multiple mailings and information collection: Jim Hartshorn
Name tags: Fred Clark

We hope and pray to be able to return in two years. It was the concensus of those attending that we meet again in September of 2007 one week later than this year’s reunion. Until then, love and best wishes to each of you.
