The only reason we wanted something new was that the oven became totally unreliable. The temperature varied widely, and the antique stove man could not get parts anymore. The stove and oven are 40 inches wide. Modern appliances don't seem to come that wide. The best we could do was 36 inches. That left a gap if we replaced only the stove and oven. So, we decided that we would upgrade the appliances. New cabinets would be required to accommodate the new cook top and oven. That would necessitate a new granite counter top and a new back splash. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
A big concern was the loss of cupboard space. With an oven going in below the cook top, all of the space below the existing stove would be lost. |
